Her own ideas

I really wanted the boys to take dance lessons when they were little.  Because I didn't want them to feel pressured, I only mentioned it once or twice.  I had hoped that the multiple viewings of Singing in the Rain would finish the task for me; alas, all that did was create an interest in Cyd Charisse.

After my failure to interest them in dance, I thought maybe football (not the American kind) was the way to go.  Nope, it had to be golf - a sport that I know nothing about and is the least interesting to watch.  Fine.

It took a while, but I've become comfortable with the boys playing golf.  The instructors are amazing, it's surprisingly cheap since they give the kids their own sets of clubs, and after almost two years I understand the system - I know what is required of me and when it has to be done.

So after Eyvind's fourth birthday I was all ready to sign her up for golf.  Because we live in a weird, dance-obsessed area (it's because of the Rangerettes - who Eyvind will see over my dead body), I specifically didn't want her to take dance.  If you've glanced at the pictures on this post, you can see how well my plans worked out.  She starts tap/ballet class next week.

She had definite ideas about which leotard she wanted - black not pink and skirted.

She asked me to take this one because she wanted to see what the back looked like.

Unhappy because we told her she had to get back into her regular clothes.

  1. Golf is a great sport for the boys and they can play it without getting permanent injuries right? :) I hope to watch them play some day soon. Evyind is so tall or is that an optical illusion? I remember another little girl who wanted to dance so it is no surprise that Eyvind wants to do the same. Have you given any more thought to music lessons or is that back burnered?

  2. There is a bit of an optical illusion going on in these pictures, but she is very tall for her age. The boys are about to finish up golf for the year, so I can give more attention to the topic of music lessons.
