Books of 2018

Best science fiction (not counting Ray Bradbury who would skew the results): Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer.  The movie is good; the book is amazing.

Best non-fiction: The White Darkness by David Grann.  Technically, this was the only non-fiction I read this year, but it doesn't diminish the fact that he can make walking over miles of snow and ice interesting.

Best non-genre fiction: Transcription by Kate Atkinson.  I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this one (I'm not fond of spy type stories), but I should never doubt Kate Atkinson.

Overall Best: Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury.  I never get tired of this book.

Overall Worst: Lethal White by Robert Galbraith (JK Rowling).  I liked the previous books in this series, but I hated this book.  Someone needed an editor.
