Starting the new year

What have we been up to?  I don't actually know.  The first two weeks of January flew by, my birthday came and went, and then I got the flu.  I don't think there has been anything terribly exciting going on.

I had jury duty this morning.  That was interesting.  Tons of people knew each other, and the woman next to me was talking about how she remembered the bailiff from when he was a boy.  Then the bailiff started talking about how he was a little scatterbrained because his wife had a baby girl over the weekend.  The room erupted with congratulations.  It certainly wasn't what I expected in a city of 80,000+ people.

I'm old, you don't need to see a picture of me.  Here's a picture of the kids with my cake (which I didn't have to make, hurrah!).
