5 years

Eyvind's birthday was in two parts.  Part 1 was on Saturday when we popped popcorn and watched Star Wars (Ep IV-A New Hope).  It was her first time seeing the movie and she was very excited. Then we had a tea party for a late lunch.  She requested that it be a real tea party and have cucumber sandwiches and real tea.  Part 2 was on her actual birthday.  She likes being in charge, so I let her do "the birthday preparations" (her words, not mine).  She painted the banner (I pencil dotted the letters in) and told me where everything needed to go.  Dashiell made the Lego table decoration.  When Jesse got home from work we ate Chinese food, had cake and ice cream, and opened presents.  About that cake - she had definite ideas on how her cake should look.  The only thing I insisted on was using the white chocolate buttons for the lettering because they're easier to do than piping directly onto the cake.

  1. What a lovely birthday!!! Wish we could have been there to attend the very special tea party. Question: I counted 6 candles on her cake...I thought this was number 5! Have I lost my marbles??? Also, did she enjoy the musical card? And what were her thoughts on the snowglobe? Looked like she was happy to see Flynn. Dashiell does such amazing things with his Legos, well done!!

    1. She wanted six candles. She said it was "one to grow on." I think she got the idea from a book. I currently have the card's song stuck in my head from it being played all day; when she saw Flynn she said, "it's the one I've been wanting!"; she thinks the snowglobe is very special and she has been very careful with it - she insisted that it go right next to her ballet trophy and her Brio horses. She said it was her best birthday ever.
