Post-Thanksgiving

Yesterday we became official residents of New York: we now have NY state license plates.  It wasn't the worst way to spend Black Friday.  In fact, I've never had such a pleasant experience at a DMV office.

This morning we went to a local farm to pick up a Christmas tree.  When I say "farm" I don't mean a you-cut-it Christmas tree farm.  Most of the year they grow and sell garlic.  We had to call ahead to say we were coming so that the farmer could meet us at the barn.  It was a great experience, made even better by the fact that it was a 10 minute drive from our house and the 7ft tree we picked out was only $35.

We haven't decorated the tree yet because we had to drive 40 minutes to take Eyvind to a tea party.  Her dance instructor has two studios, one in Houghton and one in Wellsville, and because Wellsville is the larger town (over 7,000 people!  It has a McDonalds!) they had their Christmas tea party in that studio.  The weather was nice, so the drive was easy and Eyvind had a great time.  She especially loved dressing up.  The dress is from our friends in Texas (thank you, Effie!) and the coat was Jesse's mother's when she was a little girl.  There is a hat that matches the coat, but it's a little too small for Eyvind's head.
